I have been working as a freelance designer for a number of media agencies developing sites in (X)HTML, CSS and Javascript to W3c and WAI standards.

My role as Intranet/Internet Development and support was to work in a team responsible for designing, developing and supporting the Barclays Intranet and Internet. This consisted of liaising with various business areas to ascertain their requirements and to be responsible for project managing the overall development and to be responsible for developing and delivering the solution utilising the Agile methodology. On the larger projects I was also responsible for managing project resources.

The back end consisted of Windows 2000/IIS5, Apache 2.x, Red Hat Linux, MYSql, MSSQL, CMS (Joomla/Mambo), Wiki (PHPWiki), Blogs (Wordpress) and Microsoft SharePoint 2 which we were responsible for supporting.

Front end consisted of PHP, ASP, JavaScript, HTML, XHTML, CSS and Flash.

Sites were developed using Macromedia Flash, Macromedia Dreamweaver, CodeIgnitor, Subversion, Visual SourceSafe and Paint Shop Pro.

The role was split between development, support and content management, which involved proofreading content and editing copy to ensure that it met with Barclay’s standards.

All sites were designed to WC3 standards and to WAI accessibility guidelines and to minimise cross browser issues.
