Build and manage multiple Oracle 9, 10 and 11 databases mainly on AIX 5.3 and 5.1, but also on Solaris 8, 9 and 10 and Windows 2000 and 2003. Evaluate and audit the current Oracle 10g data warehouse installation and architecture producing a report compared to industry standard ‘best practices’. Implement the findings of the report. Install and configure Oracle 10gr2 OEM for all databases in the enterprise. Install and configure RMAN for all databases in the enterprise. Upgrade 10.1.0.2 data warehouse on ASM to 10.2..0.1.

Provide Oracle DBA, SQL Server and Ingres DBA support. Provide SQL, PL/SQL and T-SQL development and tuning. Provide Oracle Applications and Financials consultancy. Production and development DBA responsible for all databases and database projects using Oracle 9iAS, Oracle 8, 9i 10g databases running on IBM AIX, Sun and HP unix servers and Windows Servers.

Responsible for the full life cycle of on-site implementations of the Lawson suite of retail software (competitor to Oracle 11i Apps and Financials) including interfacing with CapGemini. Design authority for on-site projects including defining the IT strategy. Manage teams of consultants on specific projects utilising Prince 2 and CMMI methodologies. Produce business and process documentation to Prince 2 standards. Mentor consultants in working with Oracle database management systems. Maintain reference material. Provide quality assurance for the implementation of product deliverables carried out by consultants. Develop on-site Oracle interfaces and create, support, manage and tune required live, test and development databases. Design, build, test and implement real-time data migration applications using EAI tools like WebMethods, WebSphere & WebLogic. Data map existing systems to the Merchandising application suite. Provide architecture advice on systems and databases when required. Produce management reports using Discoverer and Crystal Reports.

Worked with a team of 8 other DBA’s managing, tuning and providing support for the 200 + databases within C & W and advising in-house developers. This included upgrading and creating databases and Oracle tools (including Oracle Application Server, Oracle Financials and HRMS) in line with the corporate Oracle licence. Other responsibilities were for the implementation of the Geneva billing system and Siebel CRM system in Ireland for NTL using Prince 2 and CMMI standards.
As the sole Data Architect in C & W responsibilities include upgrading, managing and tuning the Designer 2000 repositories. Provide training in Designer 2000, create Designer 2000 standards, reverse engineering databases development projects. Build and manage intranet pages and applications, administer and manage the Discoverer universe.

• Install Oracle 11 and Oracle Designer 10.1.2 for Barclay’s South Africa to Singapore migration project.
• Reverse engineer the Indian banking infrastructure databases into the Designer repository.
• Designed and implemented Oracle’s first ever Data Guard configuration across continents, Africa to Asia using RMAN.
• Migrated the UAE and India full country’s retail banking systems, Oracle Financial Services (formerly iFlex) for Barclays from South Africa to Singapore.
• Implemented Quest’s Foglight and Spotlight applications for managing and monitoring the Singapore database environment.
• Designed and implemented Barclay’s new standard backup infrastructure using RMAN to Tivoli Storage Manger (TSM) using Tivoli Data Protection For Oracle (TDP).
• Installed and configured Barclay’s new Public Key Infrastructure using Oracle 10.2, Advanced Queuing, Advanced Symmetric Replication (ASR), Secure Certificates, HTTP server, Application Express (APEX), Apache, Procedural Gateway for MQ series, Application Server, Meta-Data and Internet Directory in a fully resilient standby and fail over scenario.
• Installed and configured the Retail Incentives system using Oracle 9.2 and Informatica Power Centre 7.1 in a Data Guard setup.
• Devise Oracle 10g standards and RMAN backup and recovery standards and produce the documents for Barclays.
• Installed and configured RMAN repository including scheduled database backups via 10gR2 OEM.
• Installed and configured 10gR2 OEM (Grid Control) repository including automated jobs for database and server management.
• Produced detailed designs for the migration of 300k Yorkshire Gas and 1M Yorkshire Electricity customers from the Oracle based Nexus and QB billing systems to Npower’s in-house Ingres based billing system.
• Produced detailed design for the migration of 150k Yorkshire Gas & Electricity pre-payment customers to a new SQL Server based billing system.
• Defined the solution for the Telewest 24*7 provisioning system worth over £100M as the design authority.
• Designed and implemented an Oracle 9i RAC for the digital TV project.
• Successfully integrated the A-Series suite of retail software in COOP Sweden worth £110M. Using WebMethods ETL, Oracle and COTS packages, which will provide COOP with a cost saving of £80 million / year for the next five years.
• Built the ‘C’ program packaged solution to migrate 300k and 1M customers.
• Implemented the migration of both the pre-payment and the Yorkshire customers over 2 weekends using a CosBatch schedule built to run the numerous scripts involved. Generating a cost saving per year of in excess of £10M for Npower.
• Built the SQL Server DTS / Visual Basic packaged solution to migrate the 150k customers.
• Produced solution architecture definition and design documents for the above sale, this included the design of an IBM iSeries cluster utilising WebMethods and Oracle for the £200M project.
• Successfully designed, built, tested and implemented a suite of data migration applications for COOP Sweden to migrate all legacy data into COTS packages for the Lawson Retail software suite in conjunction with CGEY Sweden as solutions architect team lead over a team of 10 business analysts and technical consultants.
• Produced the business process documents for the above COOP implementation to Prince 2 standards.
• Successfully tested Designer 2000 v2 and v6 and implemented within Cable & Wireless (C & W) ensuring that all IT projects follow the designated standard with a potential saving of £8M+ / year.

• Successfully installed the whole Lawson CRM & ERP software suite for their Global Support Centre which is utilised by 250 support staff. The Lawson installation requires the building of SQL Server databases and linking to Windows IIS services for Lawson Portal access via a Web browser. Lawson modules include GL, AP, Order Management, Inventory Management & Procurement (competitor to Oracle 11 Apps & Financials).
• Provided pre-sales technical support for successful sale to Musgrave, Cork, of the Lawson Merchandising suite worth £200M.
