Designed and built a SAS Data Warehouse to deliver data to Pricing, Finance, Marketing, Corporate, Claims & Policy Ops

Data was taken from various source systems - standardised - loaded into a data warehouse data model where the data was then used to build datamarts & reports and loaded into SAS BI for delivery via the portal and the Office Integration technoligies.

Before this system GHL had a number of systems producing conflicting measures - the data was manually refreshed - spread across 18+ machines and had no auditability.

SAS Enterprise BI Server was implemented - and now all the data is on a single machine - is automatically updated daily - has Source control and integrated Development, Testing and Production Environments and a data dictionary of definitions
SAS Consultant RBS Insurance Aug 2004 Apr 2009

In 2004 RBS had merged Direct Line & Churchill Insurance amongst many other brands.

I was responsible for producing for the Actuarial & Business Analysis teams an integrated data warehouse - whereby all of the companies Brands (Direct Line, Churchill, Privilege, Prudential, Tesco etc...) and all of the companies Insurance products (Motor, Home, Pet, Travel, Rescue, HR24, Commercial) are all standardised.

The system includes all Quotes (Phone, Web & Aggregator) and Accepted policies including MTAs and Claims Transactions.

All of this was accomplished using SAS on Unix server - and is automated so it's updated weekly.

The system allows it to easily produce Claims & UW triangles on any basis including any factors.

I was responsible for building a data warehouse for VW Marketing.

The system was built to specification and automated the Update and Nurture Processes - including TPS and MPS with a thirdparty company.

I also returned to do a small amount of work implementing SAS DQ (Data Quality Server)

Whilst working for ZFS I worked on 2 major Projects.

The first was for Zurich Bank - building a Marketing and MI Data Warehouse & subsequent BOE (Bank of England) & Operational reports.

This project used SAS to extract and transform the source data from various source systems and populate the MS SQL Datawarehouse of which we also managed and maintained.

The second project took extracts from various Pension & Annuity systems and populated a DB2 data warehouse that was reported on by Business Objects.
