Our Terms and Conditions take precedence over these FAQs at all times. Please ensure you have read them in full.

I am a Contractor or Consultant

To get an overview of our site for Contractors & Consultants go to our Contractor info page.

    • Can I register to use this site?

Registration as a contractor on our site is available to almost any person who is a contractor or independent consultant.

However due to restrictions in ‘The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003’, we are unable to accept registrations from contractors in certain occupations. See section 3.2 of our Terms & Conditions for details.

    •  What does membership cost me

We do not make a charge for professional membership of the site.

    • You use the term Direct – how does this affect me

We allow you as a contractor to be contacted by potential clients or their agents. Once you have replied to them indicating interest in their assignment, you are both provided with each-other’s contact details.

At this point, Contractor Index steps back and allows both parties to make DIRECT contact in order to arrange interviews, discuss and agree rates and terms of business, and to agree suitable start dates as appropriate.

We provide only the initial introduction and do not stay involved in the subsequent business transaction. There is no charge or commission from you on the contract.

    •  Can an Agency contact me through the site

Agencies are allowed to use the site in the same way as a direct client but have agreed to conduct themselves in line with ‘The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003’.

    • When are my contact details revealed to a potential client?

As a registered contractor your contact details are not viewable or searchable by any other visitor to the site. When you are contacted by a client or their agent concerning an assignment, your contact details (your name and e-mail address only) will be passed to the company by us ONLY if you respond stating a positive interest in the assignment that you have been contacted about.

    • I have been contacted about an assignment but the details have inappropriate content

If you receive contact through the site from a client which you believe to be inappropriate or discriminatory, please copy the details and send to our support desk contact@contractorindex.com to allow us to fully investigate and to take appropriate remedial action.

    • What do I do if I get contacted by someone other than a real client

This is a recruitment site and our terms and conditions preclude non-clients or their agents from contacting our members directly concerning any other type of services. If you get any non-recruitment contacts, please report abuse of the site to us at abuse@contractorindex.com so that we can take action to remove them.

Your contact details are not made public on this site.

I am a Client or their Agent

To get an overview of our site for Clients go to our Client info page.

  • What does it cost me?

There is no charge for registered clients and their agents for the core service of searching the directory and contacting our contractor and consultant members.

  • Why should I register

As a registered client you will be able to see more details on registered contractors and consultants work experience. You will also be able to shortlist members for contact, and then contact them directly concerning an assignment that you have.

  • Are there any limits on who I can contact

There is no restriction on the number of members that you can contact regarding real contract assignments that you have.

  • When are my contact details revealed to contractor members

Your contact details are not viewable or searchable by any other visitor to the site. When you contact a contractor concerning an assignment, your contact details (Your name, Company name, e-mail address and whether you are a company or an agency) will only be revealed once that member has replied to you stating a positive interest in the assignment that you have.

  • There is a job template in the Contact screen requiring certain information to be entered – why?

There is a requirement under the ‘The Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003’ to ensure that potential candidates are provided this information before they express an interest in an assignment.

  • I have recruited a contractor through the site but now want to employ them full-time. Do you have any restrictions on this?

You are free to enter into negotiations with the contractor for permanent employment without any reference to us, and without any need for any payment to us of any type.
